5 Questions with AUR Huanmie, the Space Gods Champion!

Reflections on the Tactician’s Crown with the TFT World Champion.

The stars have spoken, and a new Champion has risen! After three days of incredible competition at the Space Gods Tactician's Crown, AUR Huanmie representing CN emerged victorious, claiming the Tactician's Crown, the $150K grand prize, and the title of Space Gods Champion. Huanmie previously won the Set 5 Reckoning Championship as well as the most recent TFT Paris Open, making this his third international title.


After the celebratory confetti settled, we sat down with the Champion to get his perspective on the tournament: 

  • Coming into the final lobby, what was your game plan—and at what point did you realize you were actually going to win the Tactician's Crown?

Going into the final game, I saw that the Space God was Ahri, which made me realize I could play for a Level 9 composition. I also hit the Caretaker's Ally augment, which is great for fast-leveling to 9. Even though it didn't give me the ideal units, I already had three Primordian units to generate extra gold, so I could still make it work. Then at 3-2, I found Forward Thinking, which let me reach Level 9 even faster. At the same time, the Riven units I found stabilized my Stage 3 board, and I was even able to activate 3 Timebreakers, which helped me build a win streak. Although my rolldown at Level 9 during Stage 4 wasn't very successful, I had built such a large advantage in the early game that I felt I had a real chance to win the championship.

  • What do you think was the biggest difference-maker for your win today? Was it preparation, adapting to the lobby, or something else entirely?

I think I adapted to this set extremely well. After Day 1, even though my score wasn't very high, I felt that I had been playing well overall. Then after Day 2, I finished with one of the highest scores. That was when I realized I had a deep understanding of this set and that I had a great chance to become the champion.

  • Was there a single game, augment, pivot, or decision that you think defined your tournament run overall?

I think it was the second-to-last game. After my opponent Bensac was eliminated, I realized that many of the units from the Space Groove composition would be returned to the pool, and I had saved up a lot of gold to roll. At that moment, I knew that if I could hit a three-star 4-cost unit, I would definitely make it to the final deciding game. I think recognizing that opportunity and committing to it was the best decision I made during the tournament.

  • For everyone watching at home, what's one piece of advice you can give for anyone who wants to start competing in TFT?

If you truly love TFT, my advice is to find a group of close friends who are just as passionate about the game. Discuss strategies together, learn from each other, and improve together. Step by step, you'll give yourself a chance to compete on bigger and bigger stages.

  • Last question: you've just become the Space Gods Tactician's Crown Champion! What does this title mean to you?

My first championship was all the way back in Set 5, which was a long time ago, and the competitive scene wasn't nearly as large back then. Over the past few years, I haven't had many opportunities to compete at the Tactician's Crown, so I think many viewers from other regions may not remember me very well anymore. But I'd like to say this: I still believe I'm one of the most dominant TFT players in the world.
