Patch 14.5 Items Update

With Patch 14.5, we’re updating, replacing, and reworking several items to better fit their fantasy.

With Cyber City Patch 14.5 (live May 28th), we’re updating, replacing, and reworking several items to better fit their fantasy, open up new ones, and shore up some design flaws. So let’s not waste time and dive right into the new and reworked items, but before we do, please note that the exact stat numbers for each of the items are likely to change as we enter PBE and then live.

Item Swaps

Redemption >>> Spirit Visage

New Stats:

  • 150 Health

  • 15 Mana

  • 10% Durability

  • Restore 2.5% of missing Health each second

Why the change?
Redemption continues to be our last remaining Support-esque item in our Core Items (with the exception of Shred/Sunder if you want to count those). We’re preserving Redemption’s healing identity but reshaping it into a frontline-friendly version that’s more greedy and should be used on your main tank, drawing inspiration from Summoner’s Rift’s Spirit Visage and TFT’s Anima Visage. With Spirit Visage now as a core item, we’re removing the similar Anima Visage Artifact.

Runaan’s Hurricane >>> Kraken’s Fury

New Stats:

  • 25 Attack Damage

  • 10% Attack Speed

  • 20 Magic Resist

  • Attacks grant 3% stacking Attack Damage

Why the change?
With on-hit effects phased out, Hurricane has only succeeded on a slim number of champions (Vayne). Being this niche, it acts more as an Artifact than a core item, so we’re swapping it out with Kraken’s Fury with plans on creating an Artifact to fulfill a similar role in the future. Kraken’s Fury leans into the scaling damage fantasy that will eventually allow any high Attack Speed champion to slay the mightiest of frontliners. With Hurricane gone, we’ll be disabling the Gold Augment Category Five.

Statikk Shiv >>> Void Staff

New Stats:

  • 35% Ability Power

  • 15 Mana

  • 10% Attack Speed

  • Attacks and Magic damage shred 30% of target’s Magic Resist for 3 seconds (non-stacking)

Why the change?
Statikk Shiv struggled to balance burst and support roles. The chain lightning bounces fit best on characters with High Attack Speed, while the stats and Shred make it a good supportive item for backline casters. We’re moving that chain lightning dream to the Artifact space where it can shine, while giving players a Last Whisper style item they’re happy to put on their AP carries for Shred. With Shiv moving into the Artifact space, we’re disabling Shock Treatment, the Black Market Augment, for the remainder of Cyber City.

Item Reworks

Guinsoo’s Rageblade

Reworked Stats:

  • 10% Ability Power (unchanged)

  • 10% Attack Speed (unchanged)

  • Attacks grant 5% stacking Attack Speed >>> Grants 6% stacking Attack Speed per second

Why the rework?
With Attack Speed that stacked on Attack, our old Rageblade scaled too aggressively with itself, making stacking Rageblades often the best build for champions reliant on high Attack Speed. The new version still captures the thrill of ramping speed but does so in a more consistent way, freeing up design space and making builds more diverse.

Sterak’s Gage

Updated Stats:

  • Health: 150 >>> 250

  • Attack Damage: 15 >>> 30

  • Omnivamp: 0 >>> 10%

  • Shield: At 60% Health, gain an 80% max HP Shield that decays over 4 seconds

Why the rework?
Granting a small-ish amount of Health mid-combat is hard to appreciate. While it does hook into specific unit’s kits, a quick window of survivability has proven more universally appreciable. Think of it as The Fighter’s Edge of Night—clutch, visible, and empowering.

Guardbreaker renamed to Striker’s Flail

New Stats:

  • 150 Health

  • 15% Attack Speed

  • 20% Crit Chance

  • 10% Damage Amp

  • Crits grant 5% Damage Amp for 5 seconds, stacking up to 3 times.

Why the rework?
Guardbreaker’s focus on Shields without being specifically anti-Shield has placed it in a weird spot of being great on AoE champions who can benefit from the additional damage amp by hitting a rogue shielded unit. By moving the Damage Amp trigger to apply on crit, we make it easier to build into and further sharpen the item’s identity as the perfect pair for Crit.

New Artifacts

Flickerblade

Stats

  • 15% Attack Speed

  • 10 AD and AP

  • Attacks grant 5% stacking Attack Speed. Every 5 attacks also grant 4 Attack Damage and 5 Ability Power.

Replacing Rageblade’s multiplicative Attack Speed ramping, be sure to pair this one with more Attack Speed items! Time to let it rip!

Indomitable Gauntlet

Stats

  • 450 Health

  • 20 Armor and MR

  • The holder's Move Speed is drastically reduced. Gain 10% max Health, stun immunity, and pull the current target into melee range.

If you were a Deep Roots Anomaly enjoyer during Into the Arcane, look no further than this Artifact. Indomitable Gauntlet is also our new and more generic tank option for Artifacts now that Anima Visage is out.

Statikk Shiv

Stats

  • 25 AP

  • 20% Attack Speed

  • Every 3rd attack deals 50 + 50% of the holder's Ability Power as bonus magic damage to 4 enemies.

Statikk Shiv has moved to the Artifact space as a carry item, perfect for AP/AS carries. The item no longer provides MR Shred, so you’ll want to complement it with an Ionic Spark on the frontline or the new Void Staff on the same holder. It’ll also have an updated art thanks to our friends and frenemies (reserved only for when they beat me in our internal tournament: Rumble) on League. You’ll now be able to live your electric mouse dreams!

Titanic Hydra

Stats

  • 300 Health

  • 15 AD

  • 15 Attack Speed

  • Attacks deal 3% of the holder's max Health plus 25% of their Attack Damage as bonus physical damage to the target and adjacent enemies.

While Runaan’s Hurricane was a fun and very-specific core item, Titanic Hydra will carry on the fantasy of splash attacks in a less specific way, despite it being an Artifact, which are intended to fulfill niche fantasies. Unlike Hurricane, Titanic Hydra will be a solid build on Bruisers and old Hurricane users alike, with additional HP scaling to help. Its best users will likely be AD Bruisers, the likes of which were more common in Into the Arcane (think Ambessa/Warwick), but are sure to make a comeback in a set coming soon…

Final Thoughts

And that’s it for the 14.5 item changes! Once again, note that any numbers shown here are subject to change as we make balance changes when the items hit PBE and then live! Also, each of our new core items above will have Radiant versions, but we’ll leave those for you to explore when patch 14.5 goes live on May 28th!
