Teamfight Tactics patch 13.5 notes (2025)

Patch 13.5 brings changes to Opening Encounter frequency, the removal of Chem-Baron Emblems (and with it a small rejiggering of the trait), and a few balance changes to round things out.
Let the Festivities continue!

Welcome back party-goers and Ranked climb knowers. We’ve got a few housekeeping announcements (Loot eggs retirement, API update reminder, etc), and then we’re right into a lighter balance patch for Into the Arcane, and a lofty one for Festival of Beasts Revival. Some big callouts for live balance changes include: Opening Encounters odds’ adjustments, the removal of Chem-Baron Emblem, and a new Silver Augment, Table Scraps!

PATCH HIGHLIGHTS

ROTATING SHOP INFOGRAPHIC

TREASURE REALMS CEREMONY UPGRADE

You can sometimes see what rewards you get before you pull with Treasure Tokens. That’s not hype at all, so we’re upgrading the ceremony so you’ll get the grand reveal during a more appropriate (and stylish) time.

GRAPHICS API UPDATE REMINDER

We mentioned this in 13.4, but adding it here too. As we get closer to this gradual rollout you’ll continue to see these reminders. To maintain the stability and performance of our games, we need to deprecate support for older hardware or software that isn’t widely used by players anymore. Sometime in the next few patches, we will move macOS users from OpenGL graphics technology to Metal graphics. This will roll out gradually with the ability to revert back to OpenGL for a period of time until OpenGL is removed. If you’re still using OpenGL, the client will automatically use Metal when we remove the support, so no action is required from you. However, if you were running OpenGL due to your hardware not being compatible with Metal graphics, you will need to update your hardware so that you can continue playing after OpenGL support is removed.

SYSTEMS

OPENING ENCOUNTERS

We’re adjusting the odds of our opening Encounters to make the more swingy ones less frequent as we approach the more competitive part of the set.
  • Caitlyn (Gold Subscription): 4% ⇒ 8%
  • Heimerdinger (Prismatic First): 6% ⇒ 8%
  • Mel (Radiant Blessing): 8% ⇒ 4%
  • Powder (Wind Up Monkey): 5% ⇒ 8%
  • Sevika (Loot Subscription): 4% ⇒ 7%
  • Viktor (6 Costs): 8% ⇒ 5%
  • Warwick (Loot on Kill): 8% ⇒ 3%

AUGMENT TAILORING

We’re making sure that when you’re offered an Emblem Augment, it’s relevant to what you’re playing.
  • Augments that require a certain breakpoint of Traits to appear will require more units in that trait to appear on 4-2.

LARGE CHANGES

Large, like the beautiful Shimmer pile we created before our screen turned grey. Does this remind you of anything?

TRAITS

Removing the Chem-Baron Emblem from Augments (see Augment section) allows us to balance the trait without needing to account for the extreme high rolls (Emblem start + 1-2 3 costs), which balancing around made the trait too hard to play in non-high roll situations. With that out of the way, we can allow the higher breakpoints to provide even more Shimmer.

We’re shipping a few small buffs to verticals that have been oh-so-close to meta, but have been just a bit weak. Dominator, Emissary (4), Pit Fighter, and Rebel are all getting buffs!

Experiment Emblem provides value similar to a Tactician’s Crown with half the cooking implements. Trimming back some power here, and with an Urgot nerf later on, should keep this lab experiment well regulated.

  • Chem-Baron (6): 25/70, 160 HP ⇒ 20/90, 150 HP

1-COST UNITS

Re-roll Draven has seen better days, but a 10% AD ratio buff at three-stars (where units have a lot of AD) should help us remember just who our favorite axe bro is—it started with a ‘D’ right? Was it Darius?
  • Draven Axe AD%: 140/140/140/140% ⇒ 140/140/150/150%
  • Steb Ability Heal: 270/310/360/410 ⇒ 260/290/360/430

2-COST UNITS

Even with nerfs last patch, Urgot’s chewing through full tanks like a boy on a yeti eating a big dragon (that’s a Dragonlands reference for the knowers, but for the non-knowers it’s a forbidden reference to a Nunu comp that reigned supreme for a patch).
  • Urgot Ability AD%: 300/300/333% ⇒ 300/300/310%
  • Urgot Secondary Damage: 150/150/165% ⇒ 150/150/155%

3-COST UNITS

Cassiopeia has yet to find her moment this set. I guess there’s no better time than the Year of the Snake for her to slither into Sssssss-tier.
  • Cassiopeia Primary Ability Damage: 230/345/550 ⇒ 240/360/580
  • Cassiopeia Miasma Damage: 160/240/385 ⇒ 180/270/430

4-COST UNITS

We’ve got a decent buff for Ambessa at one and two-stars, and a much larger one for her at three-stars.

We’re making some adjustments to the good (⇒) doctor to make him scale less with max HP (read Bruiser Mundo nerf) and make Mundo without Bruiser Emblem better (+6 Armor/MR)

With her three traits and AOE stun, Elise has her hands in just about every comp. It’s a good thing she has eight of them.
  • Ambessa AD: 65 ⇒ 68
  • Ambessa three-star Chain AD%: 350% ⇒ 400%
  • Ambessa three-star Strike AD%: 500% ⇒ 600%
  • Ambessa three-star Slam AD%: 1200% ⇒ 1500%
  • Dr. Mundo Armor/MR: 60 ⇒ 66

  • Ekko Ability Damage: 300/450/1200 ⇒ 285/430/1200
  • Ekko Secondary Damage: 150/225/450 ⇒ 145/215/400
  • Elise (Melee) Mana: 50/160 ⇒ 60/170
  • Heimerdinger Missile Damage: 50/75/225 ⇒ 52/78/275

5-COST UNITS

Caitlyn is receiving a small nerf after her bugfix in 13.4, and a much smaller (impact wise) one here.

LeBlanc is the capstone for the popular Sorcerer comps tearing up our lobbies with magic and mayhem—wait, wrong set, I mean tearing up our lobbies Into the Arcane—yeah, that totally works.
  • Caitlyn AD: 82 ⇒ 80
  • BUGFIX: Fixed several rare cases where Caitlyn could miss and/or fizzle parts of her Ability.
  • LeBlanc Empowered Auto Damage: 160/240/900 ⇒ 150/225/900

6-COST UNITS

  • Viktor Laser Damage: 60/240/2400 75/300/2400
  • Viktor Ability Damage: 150/500/9999 160/600/9999

AUGMENTS

Chem-Baron Crest and Crown have been removed to make way for some trait rebalancing (see traits). There are now NO ways to get a Chem-Baron Emblem as it’s also excluded from things like Wandering Trainer.

We also have a new (kinda) Augment, in Table Scraps. We had Table Scraps during PBE for the set, but it was far too powerful to release to live, so we’ve added a few restraints for it to come to live now!
  • Blade Dance (Irelia Carry Augment) Ability AD%: 335/335/345/345% ⇒ 350/350/350/350%
  • Diversified Portfolio & Diversified Portfolio + Gold per Traits: 1 per 3 ⇒ 2 per 4

ITEMS AND ARTIFACTS

We’ve made a pass on our Radiant Items to polish up the ones that haven’t been glowing as brightly as we’d like.
  • Blue Buff and Nashor’s Tooth can now be equipped on manaless champions. Not saying it’s a good idea, but they technically give you some usable stats, so go wild.

FESTIVAL OF BEASTS REVIVAL

The Year of the Snake is (checks calendar) all year long, but the Festival of Beasts Revival (and event) only has until March 10th, so be sure to check it out.

TRAITS

We’ve seen the combat pacing for the Revival be a bit faster than we’d like, and a lot of this is due to the damage our strongest traits/champs can pump out. So as with the rest of our Revival changes, we’ll be focusing on nerfs here with the occasional buff to make something like The Endbringer or a huge Fortune cashout feel better.
  • Cultist (11) The Endbringer will no longer be kicked off the board by Lee Sin.
  • Cultist (11) The Endbringer will no longer be a primary target of 1 or 2 star Sett’s ability
  • Duelist Attack Speed stack: 8 ⇒ 10
  • Duelist Attack Speed per stack: 12%/20%/35%/60% ⇒ 10%/15%/25%/35%
  • Exile (2) Omnivamp: 80% ⇒ 60%

CHAMPIONS

In addition to focusing our nerfs on lowering damage to slow combat pacing, we’re also giving the set a bit more modern love with changes like a reduced Rakan and Pyke CC duration. And Yes, we have several nerfs directed at the S-tier comps: Assassins, Sharpshooters, and Kayles.
