Simplifying Cosmetics Tiering
Since launching TFT, we’ve seen tons of Tacticians, Arenas, Booms, and now Portals enter the convergence. We’ve come a long way with not just the diversity of cosmetics and the quality players expect from them even at Common-tier, but also their various acquisition methods - the Rotating Shop, Treasure Realms, Passes, and more. Our current tiering system just hasn’t kept up with the game TFT has become. Starting in patch TFT14.5, we’ll simplify TFT’s cosmetic rarity tiers to ensure they’re straightforward and consistent.
TL;DR:
- Little Legends released prior to patch 14.5 in the Rare and Epic tiers will be combined into the new Standard tier.
- Non-upgradable Little Legends and Booms are designated as three-star content.
Moving forward, we’ll have only 4 tiers: Standard, Legendary, Mythic, and Prestige.
We’re combining Rare and Epic into our new Standard Tier. This will ensure that the different cosmetic tiers have clear distinctions and features. Pricing for content in this tier will be set to the same as our current Rare tier. Items that can’t be starred-up with Star Shards will be designated as three-star by default. Moon icons have replaced Stars for Chibi and Unbound Tacticians.

-
Arenas:
- Standard Arenas include the Arenas from older sets and Battle Passes (eg. Lunar Revel Balcony)
- Legendary Arenas are staying at the same tier (eg. Black Hole Arena)
- Mythic Arenas are also staying the same (eg. Heaven’s Celestial Court Arena)
-

- Standard Booms will include Battlepass Booms (eg. Light Gun Laser Boom)
- Legendary Booms will include Base Chibi Booms (eg. Rocket Grab Boom)
- Mythic Booms will include Skin Chibi Booms (eg. Majestic Empress Soul Shackles Boom)

Portals:

- Legendary Portals include portals that match thematically with our other cosmetics (eg. Janna’s Fantastic Forecast)
This is by no means an exhaustive list, but it should helpfully provide context and examples of how each cosmetic type will be categorized and keep things simpler moving forward.
In addition to the new Standard Tier, we’re committing to be more transparent about our cosmetics starting with some UX improvements, allowing you to be more informed about your purchases.
Here are some examples of updates that are coming to the Store and the Loading Screen:

The Battle Pass screen is getting a refresher with each item labeled clearly with its rarity tier and what type of cosmetic it is.
