TFT Dev: Client, Next Set Sneak Peek & Appreciation Missions

Our standalone client is coming your way with patch 18.6. Tagging along, one of our favorite group from the next set for a sneak peek. We're also sharing more details about the appreciation missions.

We’ve got a lot to talk about today! We’re covering what to expect from our upcoming standalone client launch plus how it will evolve over the next several patches, and a small sneak peek at our next Set.

TL;DR:

  • Our standalone TFT client launches with Patch 18.6. This initial release lays the foundation for improvements we'll roll out in 18.7 and beyond leading up to Set 19.
  • Beyond Patch 18.6, we take an early look at Set 19, including some details on compensation for all players in Patch 19.1.

TFT STANDALONE CLIENT

Patch 18.6 will include TFT’s new standalone client, so PC players should expect a larger download than usual. We’re saying farewell to our previous home in the League client and stepping out on our own. Being on the League client gave TFT a ton of advantages when we launched, and we know many of you enjoy jumping between the two games. You’ll still be able to swap between the Rift (or ARAM) and the Convergence with the click of a button, even with TFT in its own client.

That home has served TFT well, so why are we moving out now?

Looking to TFT’s future - we need some room to build dedicated tools and experiences tailored for TFT players. More robust in-client events, improved lobby visuals, in-client previews of Tacticians and Arenas before you add them to your loadout, and more.

We’ll get more into that in a moment, but our immediate priorities for the standalone client launch are focused around functionality and stability. We’ll be following up in future patches, as quickly as Patch 18.7, to continue adding features and building based on your feedback and suggestions.

Looking ahead, here are a few of our priorities for the next several patches:

  • Social Play & Quality of Life Improvements:
    • Patch 18.7 will reintroduce Leaderboards, make it easier to add friends to lobbies, and switch between solo and party lobbies across different queues.
    • End-of-game screens are also a major opportunity space in our new client, with new ways to share the comps and team codes that took you to 1st.
  • Addressing feedback from PBE:
    • We have a lot of room to play on the homescreen in our standalone client, and we’ve seen feedback from players on the UI looking a little off for not utilizing all of the space enabled through larger displays. We agree!
      • We don’t have a specific patch nailed down for this, but we’re looking at revamping the UX scaling on PC to improve the overall look, feel, and ease of navigating through the client.
  • In-client Events:
    • Starting with Patch 19.1, we’re introducing a new in-client experience that evolves as you play. We’ve got a quick look at that coming up right after this!

SET 19 SNEAK PEEK

Back when we revealed our 2026 roadmap, we promised a global music event, but what does that actually entail? Well, let’s take a quick look before the reveals kick off fully in the next few weeks.

First, a quick look at that new in-client experience. Introducing the Tour Collection: a room of your own to decorate, showing off your progress through Set 19, featuring memorabilia from our favorite bands with over 70 customization options to build the perfect room dedicated to your Bias and Oshi.

What about gameplay, you’re surely asking? We don’t want to spoil too much here, but we’ve also unlocked a new feature for Set 19’s True Damage trait (and another couple of champs and traits, but you’ll need to wait for those reveals). True-to-form for a band with a record-scratching DJ, you can swap how the trait plays like you’d swap a record during a set. A new take on a streak trait - choose whether you play True Damage on the A-side if you plan on win streaking, or flip to the B-side to capitalize on a [totally-intentional] loss streak. Stay tuned for a full breakdown of the trait and much, much more in the Set 19 Dev Drop!

PLAYER APPRECIATION MISSIONS

We know the transition to Unreal has had its bumps, and we appreciate your patience and support. To say thanks and kick off Set 19, we’re introducing a series of simple missions in Patch 19.1:

  • All Players:
    • Play 1 game in Set 19 to earn 500 Treasure Tokens
    • Play 20 games in Set 19 to earn one random Mythic Chibi
      • To get specific: you’ll earn a token that can be used on a new banner that contains only Mythic Chibis - no Unbound Tacticians or Mythic Little Legends.

For players who own higher-tier cosmetics before Patch 18.7, additional compensation is being provided from being unable to use certain items in Enchanted Wilds during the conversion process. These will be automatically delivered when you log in after the release of Patch 19.1.

  • Players who own a Mythic Tactician or Arena before Patch 18.7 will receive 2 Mythic Medallions
  • Players who own a Prestige Tactician before Patch 18.7 will receive an Unannounced Mythic Chibi
